I have been obsessing over my blog for weeks now. I really wasn’t happy with the generic looking, but functional themes that were available. Problem was I really didn’t understand that whilst some themes you could customize in some way, most were pretty static. No changes except for the widgets. I think I’ve changed themes at least 20 times in the past few weeks. I just didn’t like the look and feel of the blog. It was my words, my thoughts, but not me.
I took an intensive InDesign course this week in San Francisco. The program really has nothing to do with blog or web design, but it did have everything to do with layout, custom color’s, and the effective use of the space you are working on, just for starters.
Aha, she says. Now I get it…I need to find a theme that allows as much customization as possible. This way I can use the colors I want, the pictures I chose, etc. So, I’ve spent the better part of the last 3 days doing just that. Whilst the theme itself may belong to WordPress, everything else about this blog belongs to me.
Probably could use a bit more tweaking here and there, but I believe I can quit obsessing about it now and get back to writing. What a relief.
